Black oxide hex nut is carbon steel hexagon nut with black oxide finish. Black oxide is a chemical conversion coating rather than electroplating. It creates matte black surface, offers minor rust resistance and good friction performance during assembly. Salt spray resistance is low, only for dry indoor applications. Common strength classes: 8, 10, 12. Used together with black oxide hex bolts for machinery, mould, automotive and indoor steel structures.
